The Crimson Tide makes its fall debut at Rhoads Stadium
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball played at home for the first time this fall Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, winning both games of the doubleheader against Louisiana-Monroe.
Ally Shipman got the scoring started in the second inning of game one of the doubleheader, driving in Megan Bloodworth with an RBI single up the middle. A sac fly RBI from Kat Grill later in the inning made it 2-0 before a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third tied the game. A Kaylee Tow RBI double in the fifth made it 3-2 but ULM responded back with a game-tying RBI single in the next half-inning. Dallis Goodnight led off the bottom of the seventh with a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a groundout before fellow freshman Jenna Lord pulled a pinch-hit single through the left side to score her and give Alabama the 4-3 win.
In game two, the Tide jumped ahead in the first inning with an RBI double from Abby Doerr that banged off the wall in center. A two-run triple in the second swung the Warhawks back in front but Alabama responded right away in the next half inning with RBI singles from Lexi Kilfoyl and Aubrey Barnhart. The three runs proved enough as Alex Salter and Lexi Kilfoyl held the Warhawks off the board the rest of the way.
