Alabama Women’s Tennis Wins Six Matches Saturday At ITA Southern Regionals

The Crimson Tide will have two doubles teams compete in the quarterfinals and two singles players compete in the Round of 16
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis will send two doubles teams to the quarterfinals and two singles players to the Round of 16 after concluding competition Saturday at the ITA Southern Regionals at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Two doubles teams earned a spot in the quarterfinals after winning a pair of matches during the day.
Anna Parkhomenko and Petra Sedlackova opened the morning with an 8-4 win against LSU's Nina Geissler and Ena Babic. The UA duo followed with an 8-3 win against Troy's Andrea Widing and Anastasiia Khokhlova to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.
Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser also earned a spot in the quarterfinals as the pair topped Samford's Sofia Zaprianov and Alexis Lopez 8-2. In their second doubles contest of the day, Bencheikh and Hiser posted an 8-3 score against Ole Miss' Sabina Machalova and Tiphanie Fiquet.
In singles, Bencheikh put together a dominate performance, going 6-0, 6-1 against Elysia Pool from Ole Miss to advance to the Round of 16. Sedlackova will join her teammate in the next round after posting a 7-6(4), 6-2 decision against Mackenzie Clark from Tulane.
Additionally Kasia Pitak went 7-6(3), 6-4 in a consolation match against Otoha Aoki from South Alabama to capture her first singles win at Alabama.
The quarterfinals for doubles will kick off action tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT, followed by the Round of 16 and Round of 8 for singles.
