Alabama Women’s Tennis Wins Two Quarterfinal Matches At ITA Southern Regionals

The Crimson Tide will send a doubles pairing and one singles player to the semifinals
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis will send three players to the semifinals at the ITA Southern Regionals after advancing the doubles team of Loudmilla Bencheikh and Anne Marie Hiser as well as singles competitor Petra Sedlackova.
Bencheikh and Hiser faced LSU's Maggie Cubitt and Safiya Carrington in a contested quarterfinal match. The UA duo emerged from the matchup with an 8-6 victory to clinch a spot in Monday's semifinals.
Sedlackova advanced from the Round of 16 with a come-from-behind win. After falling 5-7 in the opening set, the Alabama freshman responded with a 6-4 score to force a third game. She went on to clinch the win against Sabina Machalova from Ole Miss with a 6-2 third-set decision.
Sedlackova held the momentum in the quarterfinals taking a two-set win over Auburn's Ariana Arseneault. She posted a 6-4 first-set score before going 6-3 to close the match.
Additionally, Kasia Pitak and Ola Pitak won a consolation match against Troy's Oliva Elliott and Michelle Ncube, dropping just three games in the match. Ola Pitak also won a consolation singles match with a 3-6, 7-5, [10-5] score against Kelsey Mize from Ole Miss.
Bencheikh and Hiser compete in the semifinals for doubles tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT, while Sedlackova's singles semifinal matchup is at 1 p.m. CT.
