Alabama Women's Tennis on Day One of ITA Southern Regional Championships

The Crimson Tide concluded the first day of regional competition Thursday in Baton Rouge, La.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team finished day one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southern Regional Championships Thursday at the LSU Tennis Complex and LSU UREC Tennis Courts.
Qualifying Round 1
- After losing her opening set, Ansley Cheshire battled back to win 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 against Miss. State's Madelyn Bemisderfer and advance to the second round of qualifying matches
- Cheshire fell 6-4,6-3 to Samford's Samantha Nanere in her second match of the day
- Rebeka Kern won 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 in her first match against Northwestern State's Renske Ubachs
- In Kern fell 2-6 in the first set of her second match of the day before coming back to win the second set 6-2 before falling in the tiebreak set 13-11 to Caraline Scheufler of South Alabama
