
Alabama Softball Sweeps Wallace State in Sunday Doubleheader

The Crimson Tide continues fall play Friday, Oct. 20 vs. Jones College
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball continued its fall slate Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, defeating Wallace State in both games of a doubleheader by scores of 9-1 and 9-0.
Alabama has two more fall dates remaining, facing Jones College in a doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. CT before concluding Sunday, Oct. 22 with a doubleheader against Chipola College at 1 p.m. CT.
Highlights
- Kristen White was 3-for-3 in the opening game of the doubleheader, driving in a pair of runs
- Kenleigh Cahalan drove in three of Alabama's nine runs in game one, going 2-for-2 at the plate
- Jenna Johnson and Bailey Dowling each had two-RBI days in game one
- Alea Johnson and Jaala Torrence didn't allow any earned runs in game one, combining for 10 strikeouts and just one walk
- In game two, Lauren Esman went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while also pitching 3.0 shutout innings
- In addition to Esman, Kali Heivilin and Emma Broadfoot had multi-RBI performances in game two with three and two RBIs, respectively
- Kayla Beaver and Jocelyn Briski had identical pitching lines in relief in game two, throwing 2.0 shutout innings each with one hit allowed and two strikeouts
- For the second straight weekend Alabama welcomed back a program alum in the visiting dugout, as former manager Carson Owens is the head coach at Wallace State

- B1 | Kenleigh Cahalan got the scoring started with a two-run single (2-0)
- B2 | Kristen White doubled the lead with another two-run single (4-0)
- B2 | Jenna Johnson tagged up and scored on a sac fly from Cahalan (5-0)
- B2 | Bailey Dowling drove in M'Kay Gidley and Larissa Preuitt with a single (7-0)
- B3 | Lauren Johnson scored from third on a sac fly RBI from her sister Jenna (8-0)
- T5 | An unearned run for Wallace State scored on a fielding error (8-1)
- B5 | An RBI double from Jenna Johnson drove in Marlie Giles (9-1)

- B3 | Kali Heivilin bounced a double off the wall, driving in two (2-0)
- B3 | Heivilin later came home on an RBI single from Riley Valentine (3-0)
- B3 | Lauren Esman plated a pair with a two-run single (5-0)
- B5 | Esman tacked on her third RBI of the game with a single driving in Gidley (6-0)
- B5 | Giles and Kinley Pate both came home on a double from Emma Broadfoot (8-0)
- B6 | Heivilin plated the final run of the game with an RBI single (9-0)
