131 Alabama Student-Athletes Earn SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll Recognition

The Crimson Tide had a combined 416 student-athletes named to the SEC honor roll during the 2023-24 year
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After another strong athletic year that saw Alabama finish ninth in the Directors' Cup, the Crimson Tide had an impressive finish to the academic year as a school-record 131 student-athletes were named to the 2024 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Wednesday.
In addition to those on the first-year list, the Crimson Tide had 103, 56 and 126 students-athletes named to the SEC Fall, Winter and Spring Academic Honor Rolls, respectively, giving Alabama a total of 416 for the 2023-24 academic year.
The 131 honorees marked a program-best for Alabama, who was one of just three conference schools to eclipse the 130 threshold. This year also marked the fourth time in five years that UA had over 100 student-athletes earn the honor in their first year of competing for the Tide.
The Crimson Tide led SEC schools for honorees from football (20), men's (6) and women's (10) cross country, rowing (14) and volleyball (7) while tying for the conference lead in men's golf (3) and men's swimming and diving (9).
The 2024 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2023-24 academic year. To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA championship segment.
