Former Alabama players made an impact in Week 7 of the NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 7 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
The Tide was in full force as the Detroit Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers, 20-17, in an NFC North showdown. Detroit wide receiver Jameson Williams hauled in five catches for 91 yards and two scores, marking his second multi-touchdown game of the season.
On the ground, Lions' running back Jahmyr Gibbs eclipsed the century mark for the third time this season, logging 116 rushing yards on 29 attempts. The fourth-year pro also caught five passes for 27 yards to register 140-plus scrimmage yards for the second time in as many games. On the opposing sideline, Josh Jacobs made his season debut for the Packers, totaling 91 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Jacobs finished with 36 rushing yards while adding 55 yards and a score across five receptions.
In that same game, Lions' safety Brian Branch tallied an interception in his return from an ACL injury that has sidelined him since Week 14 of last season. Branch's final line included four tackles and a pass deflection in addition to his pick, helping Detroit to victory. Fellow safety Xavier McKinney totaled a season-high 10 tackles for the Packers, a new season-high mark.
Elsewhere in the league, Denver wideout Jaylen Waddle recorded four catches for 48 yards in the Broncos' 30-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Placekicker Will Reichard connected on three of his four field goal tries for Minnesota in a 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Reichard made kicks from 28, 47 and 52 yards, the latter of which was his sixth boot this year from 50-plus.
Vikings' linebacker Dallas Turner posted four tackles, including one for loss and 0.5 a sack, to go with three quarterback hurries. Thanks to his efforts on Sunday, Turner is now tied for third in the NFL with 6.0 sacks on the year.
Henry To'oTo'o of the Houston Texans registered a season-high 10 tackles in a 27-21 overtime loss to the Giants. Two of To'oTo'o's tackles went for loss and the Texan also recorded 0.5 a sack and one quarterback hurry.
Rounding out the top performances of the week was Jets' safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The ninth-year veteran recorded double-digit tackles for the second time this season, finishing with a game-high 10 takedowns in a 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
