The Crimson Tide was led by Emily Jones’ 18 points
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's swimming and diving team defeated Miami by a score of 224-110 at the Alabama Aquatic Center on Saturday. The Crimson Tide outscored the Hurricanes 117-50 on the second and final day of the meet.
Emily Jones and Gaby Van Brunt led the way for the Tide, finishing first twice on the day. Jones placed first in the 100 butterfly and was part of the 200 medley relay team that won, while Van Brunt took the 100 freestyle and swam in both relay races.
Ciera Center rounded out the top three scorers in the 1-meter dive with a final mark of 263.33.
From Head Coach Margo Geer
"Those were two sessions of some really good racing for the women being able to back up their performances from yesterday and getting after it again this morning. We just kept competing against a good team and tried cleaning up some things from the first day. We're really trying to make some moves on our relays so being able to compete if all four relays over the two days was good. That's definitely an emphasis and something we want to keep getting better at.
We're at a spot now where we can really get ready for the UGA Invite and have some really good racing points from the past two days to take into the Invite along with championship season. Overall, I'm proud of them and they're growing as a team which is what we're aiming for and everything is starting to come together really nicely."
