
Vic Moten Named Freshman of the Week by D1 Softball and Softball America

The Daphne, Ala., native went 3-0 last weekend, contributing to a combined no-hitter in her Crimson Tide debut
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A stellar opening weekend from Alabama freshman pitcher Vic Moten has earned her national recognition as D1 Softball's National Freshman of the Week and Softball America's Freshman Star of the Week.
The Daphne, Ala., native got the start in last Thursday's season opener for the Crimson Tide against Villanova at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta, Ga., throwing 3.0 innings as part of a five-inning combined no-hitter with sophomore Braya Hodges in relief. Moten struck out six Wildcat batters and allowed just one baserunner via a walk.
She got two more wins in a pair of 6.0 inning starts against tournament host Georgia Tech, striking out seven on Friday as part of a two-hit shutout while allowing just two runs in the first inning of Saturday's rematch, fanning six.
In total on the weekend Moten boasted a 0.93 ERA over 15.0 innings pitched with 19 strikeouts.

- Got two wins in a pair of 6.0 inning starts against tournament host Georgia Tech, shutting out the Yellow Jackets in game one (Feb. 6) with a weekend-best seven strikeouts before following that up with a six-strikeout game in the rematch (Feb. 7) with just two runs allowed in the first inning before putting up zeroes the rest of the way
