
SEC Names Doris Lemngole Women’s Runner of the Week

The honor marks the junior’s 10th career weekly award from the league office
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – More recognition continues to roll in for Alabama track and field's Doris Lemngole as the reigning Millrose Games champion was named the Southeastern Conference Women's Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The honor marks the 10th conference weekly award of Lemngole's career and her first of the 2026 indoor track season.
The announcement comes two days after Lemngole captured the women's 3,000-meter title at the Millrose Games, defeating professional runner Hannah Nuttall (second, 8:32.94) and BYU's Jane Hedengren (8:34.98). It also follows her selection as the USTFCCCA Women's National Athlete of the Week, announced Monday.
It marks the second consecutive week a member of the Alabama women's track and field program has earned weekly SEC recognition, as multi-athlete Katelyn Adel was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 27.

- Won the Burgess Family Foundation women's 3,000-meter race at the prestigious Millrose Games
- Her time of 8:31.39 broke the collegiate record by four seconds (previous record – 8:35.20 by Katelyn Tuohy, 2023)
- The performance marked the second consecutive meet in which Lemngole set a UA school record
