Jena Young hits two triples, Jocelyn Briski pitches her second complete game shoutout of the season
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama softball shut out Auburn, 1-0, Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field to take the opening game of the weekend series.
Alabama's (37-3, 10-3 SEC) and Auburn (23-17, 2-11 SEC) fought through a scoreless pitcher's duel until the top of the fifth, when a leadoff triple from Jena Young set up Kristen White behind her for an RBI single to put the Crimson Tide into the run column. That was all the scoring for either team tonight, as Jocelyn Briski (15-1) struck out eight batters behind her second complete-game shutout of the season.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"Jocelyn Briski gave us a really good game with eight strikeouts and only one walk. The defense played really well behind her. Jena Young was basically our offense the whole night with two triples and then Kristen White came through with the single and that was all we needed. Sometimes that's the way it goes."
Highlights
- The win was Alabama's 16th shutout of the season, its first in SEC play
- Jena Young had two triples, her second career game with two triples (March 29, 2025 vs. Wisconsin)
- Alexis Pupillo's third inning single extended her reached-base streak to 36 games
