The SEC series loss is the Crimson Tide’s first this season
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama softball fell to Tennessee, 4-1, in Monday's series rubber match as the Crimson Tide dropped its first conference series of the season.
Alabama (44-6, 16-5 SEC) and Tennessee (40-8, 14-7 SEC) were scoreless until a three-run fourth inning put the Lady Vols in front. The home team added a fourth run in the bottom of the fifth and the score remained 4-0 with the Crimson Tide down to its final three outs heading to the top of the seventh. Mari Hubbard hit a pinch-hit home run to lead off the frame and Ambrey Taylor was then hit by a pitch before moving up 60 feet on a wild pitch. Alabama couldn't bring the tying run to the plate however, as three straight strikeouts ended the rally and gave Tennessee the three-run victory for the series.
Highlights
- The series loss is Alabama's first in SEC play this season, winning six of its seven so far
- The loss was just the second this season for Jocelyn Briski and the two unearned runs were her first unearned runs given up all year
- Mari Hubbard led off the seventh inning with a pinch-hit home run, the Tide's first since Ambrey Taylor did the same earlier this season vs. Arkansas (March 15, 2026)
