The Jasper, Ala., native tied for the team lead in RBIs in the series win over Texas
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball freshman infielder Ambrey Taylor is the SEC Softball Freshman of the Week following a big series win for the Crimson Tide over top-ranked Texas.
Taylor batted .333 (3-for-9) over the weekend vs. the Longhorns and was tied for the team lead with four RBIs. She had a big 2-for-3 day at the plate in the 11-4 game two victory, leading off the fourth inning with a towering solo home run before driving in two more runs in the fifth inning with a single up the middle. Her fourth RBI of the weekend came in the series-clinching game three on Saturday, driving in Kristen White from third.
It is the first career weekly honor for the Jasper, Ala., native and already the third different Alabama freshman to win Freshman of the Week honors this season along with Kaitlyn Pallozzi (Feb. 24) and Ana Roman (March 11). Fellow freshman Vic Moten earned Pitcher of the Week accolades on Feb. 24, which combined with Jocelyn Briski's two Pitcher of the Week awards (March 3, March 18) and Brooke Wells' Player of the Week (March 11) nod swells the Crimson Tide's total weekly conference awards to seven so far this year which is the most of any team.
