The Crimson Tide concludes the regular season with 19 SEC wins, its most since 2014
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 win over South Carolina Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, earning its fourth SEC series sweep of the season and its seventh SEC series victory.
Alabama's (47-6, 19-5 SEC) 19 conference wins are its most since 2014 and its four SEC series sweeps are the Crimson Tide's most since 2021. South Carolina (30-25, 7-17 SEC) got on the board first with runs in the second and third innings to lead 2-0 before Alabama strung together a three-run third that saw the Tide bat around the order, drawing two bases-loaded walks along with an RBI single from Ana Roman to pull ahead 3-2. Alexis Pupillo made it a two-run game with an RBI single in the fourth, which proved crucial as a sixth-inning solo home run from the Gamecocks' Karley Shelton drew the visitors within one late, 4-3. Jocelyn Briski (20-2) stopped any momentum after that, retiring the final six straight to end the game and cap her 12th complete game of the season.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"I cannot say thanks enough to every fan. Anybody that buys a ticket means a lot to me because they support a women's sport at Alabama. Our fans have been great all season long. Today, I've got to give it up to Jocelyn Briski – she gutted out another win. She's now 13-2 in the SEC. Time and time again she has given us phenomenal performances and an opportunity for us to win every single start."
