
Alabama Lands Newberry Transfer Rickell Brown

The 2026 All-South Atlantic Conference Team honoree will join the Crimson Tide for the 2026-27 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Pauline Love announced the addition of Rickell Brown to the women's basketball program on Saturday. Brown, who spent the past two seasons at Newberry College, will join the Crimson Tide for her junior year in 2026-27.

- Started all 28 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 31.1 minutes per contest
- Paced the team with 15.3 points per game, finishing the year with 429 points
- Named a 2026 All-SAC Second Team honoree
- Converted 93-of-124 (75 percent) at the free throw line
- Recorded 117 rebounds (4.2 rpg), 58 assists (2.1 apg) and 51 blocks (1.9 bpg) along with 14 blocks during her sophomore season (2025-26)
- Scored double-figures 23-out-of-28 contests, including a career-high 26 points against North Greenville (Nov. 15, 2025)
- Finished 11 games shooting 100 percent from the free throw point line
- Appeared in 26 games during her freshman year, making eight starts
- Averaged 12.3 minutes per game and finished with 80 points (3.1 ppg) during the 2024-25 campaign
- Surpassed 500 career points during her two seasons at Newberry
- Averaged 13.5 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game for Sumter High School
- Helped lead the team to a 2024 SCHSL 5A State Championship title
