
Jonatan Berhane Tabs Gerhard Gruindelingh as Assistant Coach

Gruindelingh will join the Crimson Tide after a three-year stint at Duke
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis head coach Jonatan Berhane announced the addition of Gerhard Gruindelingh as assistant coach on Saturday.
Gruindelingh most recently served three seasons as assistant coach at Duke (2023-26) where the Blue Devils made three consecutive NCAA Tournaments including a quarterfinals appearance during the 2024-25 season. Prior to Duke, Gruindelingh served professional stints at UTSA National Campus and Innis Arden Golf Club after spending a pair of seasons at South Alabama, his alma mater, as a graduate assistant.

Gerhard Gruindelingh Bio
- Served three seasons at Duke as assistant coach (2023-26)
- Made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances with the Blue Devils with the team's longest run to the quarterfinals in 2024-25
- Helped Duke to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title in 2025 with a perfect 12-0 conference ledger
- Tabbed as an associate head professional at the USTA National Campus (2023)
- Spent four years as an assistant professional at the Innis Arden Golf Club where he was responsible for promoting tennis programs for all age groups, including the junior's league and women's team (2019-23)
- Four-year letterwinner at South Alabama after compiling 60 singles victories during his tenure
- Two-time All-Sun Belt Conference honoree in doubles (2015, first team; 2014, second team)
- Earned his bachelor's degree in business management in 2017, before going back to earn his master's degree in health education in 2019 from USA
