
Lance McMahon Named Top 25 Finalist for D1Softball National Assistant Coach of the Year

Alabama pitchers led the nation in shutouts in 2026, boasted three D1Softball All-Americans
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama softball pitching coach Lance McMahon has been announced as one of 25 finalists for D1Softball's National Assistant Coach of the Year.
McMahon oversaw a Crimson Tide pitching staff in 2026 that led the country in shutouts (24) and posted top five marks in earned run average (2nd - 1.57), hits allowed per seven innings (2nd - 4.39) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4th - 4.40). The 26 shutouts are the second-most in Alabama history, while the team's .174 batting average against ranks third and its 1.57 ERA sixth.
Jocelyn Briski became the eighth pitcher in program history to be named SEC Pitcher of the Year and was also named the D1Softball Pitcher of the Year along with earning NFCA First Team All-America honors. Vic Moten, who was a Top 10 finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year, and Kaitlyn Pallozzi both earned Freshman All-America recognition from D1Softball.
The D1Softball National Assistant Coach of the Year, as well as the Pitching Coach of the Year, presented by PitchCom, will be announced August 31.
