The former fourth-round selection becomes the 75th major leaguer in Alabama program history
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Andrew Pinckney, a member of the Crimson Tide from 2020-23, was called up by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, marking his first stint on a Major League roster, as his first game appearance will signify his MLB debut. The former Alabama outfielder becomes the third former Crimson Tide player to reach the big leagues this season (Jim Jarvis and Connor Prielipp) and becomes the 75th player in program history to attain Major League status.
Pinckney appeared in 397 career minor league games prior to his first crack in the big leagues, posting a .271 average (399-1,471) with 50 doubles, eight triples, 45 home runs and 187 RBI. The Georgia native, born in Tuscaloosa, received the Major League promotion after a solid campaign at Triple-A with the Rochester Red Wings, garnering a .271/.348/.408 slash line with 25 extra-base hits and 51 runs batted in.
