Alabama in Fifth After Opening Round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate

The Crimson Tide was one of five teams in the 14-team field to shoot even par or better on day one
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The No. 18 Alabama men's golf team carded an even par 283 to stand alone in fifth place after the opening round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate on Monday.
A trio of Crimson Tide golfers finished in the top 20 as Jack Mitchell is tied for 11th place after shooting 1-under par (70). Both Nick Gross and Andrew Hinson are tied for 20th after carding rounds of even par 71.
Each of the final two rounds of the Folds of Honor will be televised on the Golf Channel, with coverage airing live in the morning (8:30-11:30 a.m. CT) and afternoon 3:30-6:30 p.m. CT).
Individual Highlights
- Three Alabama golfers made their debut starts for the Tide, including freshman Bailey Sutter, sophomore Andrew Hinson and transfer Miles Eubanks
- Jack Mitchell ended his day with four birdies and three bogeys, and is in a tie for 11th at 1-under par 71
- Hinson collected a team-leading six birdies but also added six bogeys on his way to shooting even par on day one
- Nick Gross collected four birdies and four bogeys across his 18 holes played to finish at even par
- Sutter (72) is in a tie for 28th, while Eubanks (73) is in 35th overall to round out the Alabama starting lineup
The Field
- No. 25 Georgia Tech holds the clubhouse lead at 12-under par, seven strokes ahead of Michigan State (-5)
- Notre Dame (-4) is in third followed by Kansas (-1) who is a shot ahead of the Crimson Tide
