Day two of the men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, held in Athens, Ga. this week, proved to be a disappointing one for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
None of the Tide's three entries in day two finaled, meaning no points on day two. Stefan Gherghel had an off swim in the 100 butterfly as did Franck Southon in the 400 IM. Diver Stewart Smith failed to final off the three-meter board after posting a fifth place finish off the one-meter board on day one.
All three men return to action Saturday with Gherghel and Southon swimming their best events, the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke respectively. Smith will compete off the platform during the championships last day.
