Bama Golf in Third at Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – The Crimson Tide men’s golf team shot one over par and is in third place after the morning round at the University of Tennessee’s Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions. The two-day, 54-hole tournament began Monday morning with the first round on the par 71 Holston Hills Country Club’s course.
After finishing first round play, Alabama and the 14 other teams in the field immediately began the second round which will conclude Monday evening, barring the threat of rain.
Alabama shot 285 and is tied with Georgia Southern after one round. Virginia led the field at two under par, shooting 282. First round standings found Tennessee, the host school, second at even par (284), followed by Alabama and Georgia Southern (285), tied at fifth East Tennessee State and Pepperdine (287), at seventh Louisville (289), Austin Peay State (290), Vanderbilt (291), tied at tenth Tulane and Royal Canadian Golf (293), at 12th South Alabama (294), at 13th Louisiana-Lafayette (298), at 14th the Swedish Junior National Team (300), and in 15th place, UAB (301).
Clint Provost had the low morning round for Alabama. He’s one shot out of the lead after one round after shooting 69, which is two under par. There’s a four-way tie for first after a quartet of golfers shot 68, so Provost is tied for fifth. Gator Todd is tied at 12th after shooting one under par, 70. Joseph Sykora shot 72 and is tied at 23rd. Thomas Hagler shot 74 and is tied at 40th, and Mark Harrell shot 78th and is tied at 68th.
