Golfers in Second Going Into Final Round in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – The University of Alabama men’s golf team is in second place after two rounds Monday and goes into Tuesday’s final round four strokes out of the lead at the University of Tennessee’s Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions.
Alabama is five over par after 36 holes, shooting one over par, 285, in the morning round and four over par, 288, in the afternoon round at the par 71 course at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Alabama trails host school Tennessee who leads the field of 15 teams. The Vols shot one over for the day on their home course, 284-285/569.
The standings going into the final round find Tennessee in first (569), followed by Alabama (573), East Tennessee State (575), Vanderbilt (576), Virginia (580), tied at sixth Georgia Southern and Pepperdine (581), at eighth Louisville (585), followed by Austin Peay State (586), Tulane (587), Royal Canadian Golf (588), Swedish Junior National Team (592), South Alabama (595), Louisiana-Lafayette (599), and UAB (602).
Georgia Southern’s Aron Price has the individual lead going into the final round. He’s at four under par, carding 69 in both the first and second rounds.
Daphne’s Joseph Sykora has Alabama’s best scores going into the third round. He’s in a tie for seventh place at one under par for the day. He shot 72 in the morning round and 69 in the afternoon. Two of his teammates are among a tie for 17th at two over par. Clint Provost shot 69-75/144 and Gator Todd shot 70-74/144. Thomas Hagler of Alabama is tied at 27th (74-72/146) and Mark Harrell is tied at 52nd (78-73/151).
Harrell will be the first to tee off for Alabama on Tuesday morning in the final round. He has an 8:52 a.m. CT tee time.
