A fourth University of Alabama golfer has now qualified for the 2005 United States Amateur.
Clint Provost, a senior on the Crimson Tide golf team this past season, won the qualifier at Dancing Rabbit in Philadelphia, Miss., to advance. Provost, a native of Gulf Breeze, Fla., shot 73-69. This will be his second appearance at the U.S. Amateur as he participated in the tournament in 2002 as well.
He’ll be joined in the field by three other Tide golfers, sophomores Mark Harrell and Joseph Sykora, and incoming freshman Matthew Swan. It’s the second appearance in the championship as well for Swan, a Montgomery native who was named this week to the EA Sports Boys High School All-American Team.
The 2005 U.S. Amateur will be held August 22-28 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Penn.
