Tide Golfers Ranked No. 19 By Golfweek

The University of Alabama men’s golf team enters the 2005-06 season ranked No. 19 in the Golfweek national rankings. Golfweek’s rankings are one of the official barometers of college golf. The Crimson Tide finished No. 24 in the final rankings of 2005, finishing sixth at the NCAA East Regional to advance to the NCAA team finals.
The top 10 includes defending national champion, Georgia, at No. 1, followed by Oklahoma State, Florida, Duke, Wake Forest, Arizona State, Southern California, UNLV, Washington and Brigham Young.
The No. 1 ranked team, Georgia, is among the nationally ranked teams who will be in Birmingham October 10-11 for Alabama’s Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate held at Old Overton Club. Among the field of 12 that will gather at this event, which is free to the public, will be No. 1 Georgia, No. 10 Brigham Young, No. 12 Georgia Tech, No. 13 Auburn, No. 15 Clemson, No. 17 Arizona, No. 19 Alabama, No. 25 Augusta State, and No. 29 Tulsa.
The field will also include a host of All-Americans and top amateurs, including Vanderbilt’s Luke List who was runner-up at the 2004 United States Amateur. Alabama’s own golf team includes three 2005 U.S. Amateur participants, Matthew Swan, Joseph Sykora and Mark Harrell.
