
Golf World Names Thompson Mid-Season All-American

TUSCALOOSA ?? Golf World has announced its mid-season awards for the first half of the 2007-08 collegiate golf season, and University of Alabama senior golfer Michael Thompson is among the men selected to the Mid-Season All-American Team.
The Tucson, Ariz., native followed his August U.S. Amateur finals appearance with a fall at Alabama that found him with a 68.67 stroke average in three fall tournament appearances, He shot under par in eight of his nine rounds and finished under par in all three tournaments. Thompson finished among the top three individuals in all three events, finishing 2nd at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at 5-under par, and third at the TOPY Cup in Japan at 9-under par and third at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at 13-under par.
Joining him on the Mid-Season All-American team are Jonas Blixt of Florida State, Ryan Brehm of Michigan State, Stefan Wiedergruen of Charlotte, Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte, Harris English of Georgia, Rickie Flower of Oklahoma State, Chesson Hadley of Georgia Tech, Clayton Rask of Minnesota, Joel Sjoholm of Georgia State, Ryan Spears of Wichita State and Mike Van Sickle of Marquette.
