A talented middle infielder who was one of only two true freshmen to start in the infield last season ... had an excellent summer for the Newport (R.I.) Gulls in the New England Collegiate League ... selected to play in the NECL All-Star game for his efforts at the plate and on defense ... finished the summer with a .261 batting average and posted 99 assists at second base ... owns a wealth of summer league experience ... played on 10 World Series championship teams during summers at East Cobb ... one of the Tide’s better hitters in the fall ... could bat in the top portion of the batting order this season ... an excellent student as he was named to Dean’s List and SEC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.
FRESHMAN (2007):
Played in 49 games as a true freshman ... started 41 games at three different positions, including second base (33), third base (6) and left field (2) ... hit .264 (39-for-148) with seven extra base hits and 13 RBI ... added three triples, four doubles and scored 18 runs ... went 2-for-3 (.667) as a pinch hitter ... hit .320 (8-for-25) and drove in 12 runs with the bases loaded ... reached base in 38 of 49 games ... played in 27 SEC game and made 23 starts ... hit .184 (16-for-87) with 13 RBI in SEC games ... recorded pinch-hit double in first collegiate at-bat against Georgia State on Feb. 11 ... opened the season with a four-game hitting streak (Feb. 11-18), where he was 4-for-8 (.500) with two extra base hits and two runs scored ... made first career start against Canisius (Feb. 17) and went 1-for-3 with RBI ... slapped a two-run single against Villanova on Feb. 24 to cap UA’s four-run seventh inning en route to a 5-3 win ... recorded his first career three-hit game against McNeese State on March 3 ... hit safely in all three games against Nebraska (March 9-11) ... posted a four-game hitting streak (4-for-13, .308) from March 9-14 ... made his first career SEC start at Ole Miss on March 23 ... had a career-high three-game RBI streak from April 15-20 ... delivered a two-run single to snap a 2-2 tie and spark an eight-run sixth inning in UA’s 10-5 win over No.4 South Carolina on April 27 ... tallied three hits and scored two runs (3-for-4, 2 R) in a win over Mississippi Valley State on May 1 ... career-high four hits (4-for-4) at Florida on May 4 ... went 2-for-6 (.333) at the SEC Tournament ... went 1-for-2 vs. Arkansas on May 23 to break up Nick Schmidt’s no-hitter with one out in the eighth inning ... played for the Newport (R.I.) Gulls in the New England Collegiate League in the summer of 2007... Lassiter won the 2006 5A State Championship and was ranked 6th in the final Baseball America poll after finishing as the Class 5A State runner-up in 2005 ... played for the East Cobb Yankees in Connie Mack competition with current UA teammate Miers Quigley on a team that won the Connie Mack World Series Championship ... was named to the All-Tournament Team and earned the tournament’s “Big Stick” award ... was a member of 10 World Series championship teams during his career with the East Cobb Astros and Yankees.
