TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy announced the signing of Kallie Case (Suwanee, Ga.) Thursday afternoon. Case comes to the Capstone from Buford High School.
"Kallie comes from an incredibly gifted family of athletes," Murphy said. "She is one of the top kids in the state of Georgia who really blossomed this summer and fall. She led her high school team to its fifth consecutive state championship."
During her high school tenure, Case broke eight school records, including hits, runs scored and stolen bases. She was named the Gwinnett Daily Post Player of the Year in 2011. She was also named to the first team all-state, all-region and all-county teams in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
She also participated on the basketball team, which was the AA state champion in 2008, and ran track, where she holds the school record in the triple jump.
Case was the starting second-baseman on the 18 gold ASA national championship team in 2010. She also was the recipient of the EC Bullets Lamont Davis award in 2010. Buford High School set a state record for winning five consecutive state championships.
"Her intangibles as a leader and teammate are off the charts," Murphy added. "Kallie has a rare blend of speed and power that will be a true triple-threat-lefty at the collegiate level."
Case comes from an athletic family as her father, Scott Case, was a Pro Bowl defensive back in the National Football League and her mother, Connie Case, played softball at Northeastern State Oklahoma. Her sister, Kelsey, played softball at Valdosta State and her brother, Kody, played football at Valdosta State.
Off the softball field, Case is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team.
