Alabama’s Jordan Lewis Earns SEC Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week Honors

Newcomer collects first weekly honors from the league for an Alabama rookie since 2014
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After a pair of solid all-around performances in her first two games in a Crimson Tide uniform, Jordan Lewis was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
The Windermere, Fla., native earned the starting point guard position for Alabama and has been extremely successful in running the offense. Not only has she been productive herself, but she has also helped UA with its balance early on as the team has had five finish in double figures each time out.
Lewis is currently averaging 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. In her Tide debut, she just missed out on a double-double as she recorded 11 points and eight rebounds in addition to four assists and four steals. Her eight rebounds and four assists were also game highs.
Lewis backed that performance up with an even better one as she led all scorers with 21 points, hitting 66.7 percent from the floor, against Mississippi Valley State.
She is the only freshman in the SEC to rank in the top 25 in scoring with her 16.0 point-per-game average, good for 14th place in the league. Lewis is also the only freshman to be ranked in rebounding (12th), field goal percentage (seventh) and minutes played (30th).
