TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After getting the NCAA outdoor season underway last Friday at the Jaguar Opener, Alabama track and field is back in action this Friday at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Crimson Tide gets things underway with the women's hammer throw at 9 a.m. ET on the Seminole's Mike Long Track. Following the hammer, Alabama is slated to take part in the full range of throwing events, including the men's and women's discus, shot put and javelin.
On the oval, Alabama's women will compete in the 100, 800, 1,500 and 5,000 meters, the 2,000-meter steeplechase and the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. The men will compete in the 400, 800 and 5,000 meters, along with the 4x400-meter relay. The Tide gets things going on the track at 2 p.m. with the men's and women's 800 meters.
Overall, more than 30 men and women will be in action on Friday, including 20 women and 11 men.
Alabama's men are third and the women are 12th in the preseason outdoor NCAA Division I Track & Field National Rating Index released earlier this week. Those rankings came less than two weeks after the UA women finished seventh and the men were eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
At the Jaguar Opener, with a limited contingent at the meet, the Crimson Tide tallied a dozen top-10 individual finishes.
