
Alabama Women’s Tennis Hosts ITA Southern Regionals

The Crimson Tide will host the five-day women’s regional beginning Thursday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team will host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southern Regionals beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The five-day competition will conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 19.

Tournament Schedule
- The tournament will open with qualifying singles matches on Thursday at 9 a.m. CT
- Qualifying matches will conclude Friday morning at 8 a.m. CT, before the main draw of singles opens that afternoon
- Friday will also open doubles action with competition beginning at 9 a.m. CT
- Saturday will feature the Round of 32 and Round of 16 for both doubles and singles
- Quarterfinals for both doubles and singles will be on Sunday, while semifinals will compete on Monday and finals on Tuesday
- Competition will begin at 9 a.m. CT on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
- Play will begin at 8 a.m. CT on Friday
The ITA Southern Regional
- Alabama will face members from 17 teams at the ITA Southern Regional as UA welcomes Alcorn State, Auburn, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, LSU, McNeese State, Mississippi State, Northwestern State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UAB, Troy and Tulane
- 113 athletes will compete in the singles draw while 49 doubles teams will compete in the doubles competition
- Ansley Cheshire begins competition Thursday in the qualifying round, competing against Jacksonville State's Dariana Prato
- In Friday's main draw, Ola Pitak will play South Alabama's Delien Klienhans at 12 p.m. CT, Loudmilla Bencheikh will play Southern Miss' Sarah Medik at 12 p.m. CT, Anna Parkhomenko will play UAB's Jana Hecking at 1:30 p.m. CT, Kasia Pitak will play LSU's Safiya Carrington at 2 p.m. CT, Anne Marie Hiser will play South Alabama's Luminita Tutunaru at 3 p.m. CT and Petra Sedlackova's first match will be against someone from the qualifying round at 3:30 p.m. CT
- The Pitak sisters open doubles play for UA battling Romane Moose and Carolina Bulatovic at 9 a.m. CT on Friday
- Parkhomenko and Sedlackova will compete at 10 a.m. CT Friday against McNeese State's Ariane Monlleo Sanchis and Aina Domingo-Bernabeu, while Bencheikh and Hiser compete at 10 a.m. CT against Lara van der Merwe and Otoha Aoki from South Alabama
A Look at the Fall
- The Tide opened its 2021-22 season at the Ole Miss Fall Invite (Sept. 24-26)
- Loudmilla Bencheikh defeated two ranked players at the tournament, topping preseason No. 27 Sabina Machalova from Ole Miss and No. 114 Karine-Marion Job from Kansas State
- Anne Marie Hiser also posted a pair of singles victories, defeating Ole Miss' Kelsey Mize and Kansas State's Rosanna Maffei
- Petra Sedlackova rounded out singles action with wins against Maria Linares of Kansas State and Ole Miss' Rachel Krzyzak
- Bencheikh and Hiser went 2-1 in doubles play as the duo defeated opponents from Kansas State and Ole Miss
