Thomas will compete for Gold at the Kasumigaseki Country Club
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Former Alabama men's golfer Justin Thomas is set to tee off the opening round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at 5:30 p.m. CDT Wednesday night (7:30 a.m. GMT Thursday morning). Thomas, who is the first Crimson Tide men's golfer to compete in the Olympics, is one of four members to make up Team USA, and one of 60 golfers going for Gold.
This year, the men's golf competition will be held July 29-Aug. 1 at Kasumigaseki Country Club, a private club located in Saitama which is about 40 miles northwest of Tokyo.
As the top-ranking American in the Official World Golf Rankings, Thomas will represent the USA as the first Alabama men's golfer to compete in the Olympic Games, which debuted in Rio at the 2016 Games.
The Louisville, Ky., native who competed for the Crimson Tide from 2010-12 is one of only four golfers from the U.S. to tee it up in Tokyo. He joins Collin Morikawa, Patrick Reed (replaced Bryson DeChambeau) and Xander Schauffele as the American representatives.
All four rounds will be televised exclusively on the Golf Channel, with NBC Sports Network running a replay of Sunday's final round.
