
Alabama Women’s Tennis Opens Season at Ole Miss Fall Invite

Competition will begin with doubles matches at 9 a.m. CT on all three days
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team opens the 2021-22 season Friday at the Ole Miss Fall Invite in Oxford, Miss. The competition will run from Friday through Sunday with matches beginning at 9 a.m. CT each day.

The Tournament
- The Crimson Tide will compete against players from Georgia, Kansas State and host Ole Miss during the three-day event
- Doubles play will open the competition each day beginning at 9 a.m. CT
- Alabama players will compete in singles at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday
The Crimson Tide
- Loudmilla Bencheikh, Anne Marie Hiser, Sydney Orefice and Anna Parkhomenko return from last year's roster
- Bencheikh competed at No. 1 singles, while Parkhomenko, Hiser and Orefice contributed points in the middle for the Tide's lineup
- Hiser put together a dominate doubles performance with partner Sydney Riley, going 13-3 at Nos. 1 and 2
- Bencheikh battled at the No. 1 doubles spot for nine matches, while Parkhomenko played 22 matches at No. 3 doubles
- UA welcomes four new faces to the 2021-22 roster, including graduate students and sisters Kasia Pitak and Ola Pitak from Krakow, Poland, Ansley Cheshire from Milton, Ga., and Petra Sedlackova from Prague, Czech Republic
A Look Back
- Alabama earned its 16th NCAA Championship bid last season
- It was the seventh time in the last decade and 14th time under head coach Jenny Mainz that the Tide advanced to the national tournament
- Bencheikh and Parkhomenko earned conference honors, being named to the 2021 SEC All-Freshman Team
- Alba Cortina Pou received Second Team All-SEC honors, marking the 10th time in a row that at least one Alabama player earned the conference honor
