The Tide scored in each of the first four innings to put the game out of reach
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball scored in each of the first four innings and five of the eight innings overall on the way to a 6-3 win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday afternoon. The victory pushed the Crimson Tide to 4-0 on the young season.
Alabama got on the board with one in the first and proceeded to score two in the second and then one apiece in the third and fourth. Jacksonville State plated a run in the top of the fourth and two in the sixth, but the Tide came back with a run in the home half of the sixth to help ensure the 6-3 win.
Seven of the nine Tide starters recorded at least one hit with Drew Williamson and Owen Diodati each posting two-hit performances. Williamson doubled and recorded one RBI to go with a run scored, while Diodati tallied an RBI and one stolen base.
Jacob McNairy (1-0) was solid in his first start of the season for the Crimson Tide, tossing 5.0 innings of one-run baseball for the win. The senior issued two walks and struck out three while inducing three double plays. McNairy handed the ball over to the bullpen with the pairing of Braylon Myers and Hunter Hoopes working the final 4.0 frames. Hoopes picked up his first save of the season with 2.0 scoreless innings of work that included two punchouts.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I was really pleased with our club today. I feel like we took another step forward and played a really complete game. Jacob (McNairy) obviously set the tone, and defensively we had three beautiful double plays, five total. We scored in five of the eight innings and seven of the nine batters in the lineup got at least one hit. We did some good things on the bases – stole a couple bases and were a bit bolder with some opportunities that we took advantage of. It was a really complete effort and I'm very pleased. It was a good day for us."
How It Happened

After a wild pitch moved Jarvis into scoring position, another wild pitch moved both runners up 90 feet, scoring Seidl. Jarvis then came across on a 4-3 groundout from Bryce Eblin. (3-0, Alabama)
- B3 | Owen Diodati delivered a two-out RBI-single to score one more for the Tide. (4-0, Alabama)

- T6 | A two-run home run from Alex Strachan cut the lead to two. (5-3, Alabama)
- B6 | The Tide added one more run thanks to an RBI-single from Andrew Pinckney. Pinckney brought home Jarvis, who was hit by a pitch and then moved all the way to third with a stolen base with a wild pitch that allowed him to take the extra base. (6-3, Alabama)
