Jones Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships, Reaches ITA Sectional Championship Finals

Roan Jones downed his quarterfinal opponent in straight sets to earn a spot at the NCAA Singles Championships
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alabama's Roan Jones punched his ticket to the NCAA Singles Championships after a win in the quarterfinals of the ITA Sectional Championships singles draw on Saturday.
It took Jones just two sets to secure his spot at the national championships. The UA junior downed Julien Penzlin (LSU) 6-4 in the opening set before cruising to a 6-3 victory in the second set.
Jeremy Jin (Florida) was set to play Jones in the semifinals but withdrew from the match, advancing Jones to the singles championship. Jones will play Martin Katz (Miami) in Sunday's finals.
Additionally, Damien Nezar and Roan Jones will compete in the consolation finals after a walkover win against Georgia's Miguel Perez Pena and Oscar Pinto Sansano.
Andrii Zimnokh fell in the singles quarterfinals to Miami's Martin Katz (6-2, 6-2). Zimnokh will have a chance to earn a spot at the NCAA Singles Championships on Sunday as he battles Georgia's Oscar Pinto Sansano.
