The victory marks head coach Nate Oats' 32nd game surpassing 100 points
LAS VEGAS -Â The No. 8/9 Alabama men's basketball team put up the second-highest point total in program history in a 115-76 victory over the UNLV Runnin' Rebels in its second game of the Players Era Festival Tuesday night. The Tide's performance was its highest neutral site scoring output, eclipsing its previous scoring high of 113 points against BYU in the Sweet 16 last season.
The Crimson Tide's offensive outburst was led by Aden Holloway who finished his evening with a career-high tying 26 points, shooting 9-for-14 from the field, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
Alabama had five other scorers in double figures as well including Houston Mallette (19 points), London Jemison (18 points), Labaron Philon Jr. (13 points), Amari Allen (13 points) and Taylor Bol Bowen (12 points). The Crimson Tide had its most players scoring in double digits since the Round of 32 matchup in the 2025 NCAA Tournament with St. Mary's.
UNLV was led by Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn's 25 points, off 9-for-19 shooting, including 3-for-8 from three-point range. Gibbs-Lawhorn also tallied four rebounds and three steals in the effort.
Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame CommentsÂ
"Obviously we played a lot better. I was very impressed with our effort on the glass. We played pretty well after a loss and I thought the guys answered the bell pretty well. I thought Labaron and Holloway came out and moved the ball like we wanted them to do. The rebounding is what I was most happy with. We were +20 on the glass and +4 on the offensive boards. Aiden Sherrell had four offensive rebounds, he led us rebounding with eight in just under 13 minutes. Taylor Bol Bowen went and got seven, Noah Williamson got six. Our frontcourt was significantly better than what it had been. And with our backcourt, I've been challenging them to get in there and rebound. Labaron and Aden both had three defensive rebounds, Amari got five rebounds, so we need those guys to help rebound."
"I thought that was a good game to get our freshmen some minutes. London and Davion Hannah were both 24 or 25 minutes. I thought it got some really good action. It would've been nice to get Davion some more shots, but I thought his defense and his effort was good. London has been shooting the ball in Vegas which will hopefully give him some confidence. Good win against a team that, when they get healthy, is going to be really good. This will be a pretty good win in March for our resume. So I'm happy we could get the guys off their feet and rested because we have a tough one against Maryland tomorrow."
