The Crimson Tide matches its highest scoring total in SEC play this season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Eighth-ranked Alabama soccer opened its three game homestand with a 3-0 shutout over Georgia Thursday night at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
The shutout was Alabama's (13-2-0, 6-1-0 SEC) ninth of the season, putting goalkeeper Madi Munguia one shy of tying McKinley Crone's season shutout record from 2022. The three goals scored against Georgia (5-4-5, 2-2-3 SEC) match the Crimson Tide's highest total in SEC play this season, previously scoring three against Oklahoma on Sept. 27.
Kennedy Garcia got the scoring started in the 26th minute before Ashley Roni doubled the lead with a line drive off the left foot eight minutes later. Five minutes into the second half, Melina Rebimbas found the top right corner of the net from the top of the box to make it 3-0, which proved final.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"After dropping the game to Florida, I think we were hungry to get back on the winning track. I think the team approached this game the way we wanted to. We came out from the beginning and asserted ourselves. We got the early goal and added another soon after that and I thought we finished the game well. I'm just really pleased with our response after the loss."
