
Brooke Wells and Ana Roman Named SEC Softball Player and Freshman of the Week

It is the first weekly accolade for both players, the fourth and fifth overall for the Crimson Tide this season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Following a three-game road sweep to open Southeastern Conference play, a pair of Alabama players have been recognized by the SEC for their outstanding performances as Brooke Wells is the SEC Player of the Week and Ana Roman is the SEC Freshman of the Week.
Wells reached base safely in 10 of her 12 plate appearances against Ole Miss, including each of her first eight. She was 3-for-3 at the plate in both games one and two, hitting a home run and double in the series opener. In total, she batted .778 (7-for-9) on the weekend along with three walks, three runs scored and four RBIs.
Roman batted .571 (4-for-7), earning at least one hit in all three games against the Rebels. She drove in four RBIs in game two, three of which came on a home run, to help secure the weekend series. In total, she reached base safely in 7 of her 10 plate appearances.
Wells is the first Alabama player this year to win SEC Player of the Week and Roman is the second to be named SEC Freshman of the Week, following Kaitlyn Pallozzi on Feb. 23. In total, the Crimson Tide have taken home five SEC weekly awards so far this season, also including Pitcher of the Week accolades from Vic Moten (Feb. 23) and Jocelyn Briski (March 2).

- Led the team with 7 hits, 3 runs, 4 RBIs and 3 walks
- Had a pair of three-hit performances to give her four so far this season, already beating her three-hit total from last year as a freshman at Houston
Ana Roman (Freshman – OF – Oviedo, Fla.)
- Weekend Stats: .571 (4-for-7), 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB
- Had at least one hit in all three games in the series sweep over Ole Miss
- Drove in four RBIs in game two to help secure the series win, including a three-run home run
- Reached base safely in 7 of her 10 plate appearances
