The Crimson Tide scores its most runs vs. the Lady Vols since 2009
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama softball took game one of its top 10 road series over Tennessee in emphatic fashion, run-ruling the Lady Vols 12-0 in five innings Saturday night in Knoxville.
The 12 runs scored are the most by Alabama (44-4, 16-3 SEC) over Tennessee (38-8, 12-7 SEC) since a 12-0 win on May 2, 2009 in Knoxville to close out the regular season. That game was also the last run-rule victory for the Crimson Tide over the Lady Vols.
Brooke Wells scored the first run of the game on a first inning home run, her 20th long ball of the season. She is just the fourth player in program history to hit 20 in a season and the first since Bailey Hemphill set the Tide's single season record with 26 in 2019. Ana Roman also hit her 12th home run of the year, the most for an Alabama freshman since Reagan Dykes hit 12 in 2016. In the circle, Jocelyn Briski (19-1) threw her fourth complete game shutout of the year, allowing just three baserunners while striking out six.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"I give all the credit in the world to Adam Arbour, Kayla Braud and Ryan Iamurri for preparing our hitters all week long for anything and everything we might see in the game. All the batters had a really good plan that they executed and for the most part we stayed in the strike zone. Jocelyn Briski pitched a great game and, despite the score, she stayed solid, composed and very competitive."
