
Softball Falls to Tennessee, 2-0, Sunday in Knoxville to Even Weekend Series

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – For the first time this season, Alabama was shut out as the Crimson Tide fell to Tennessee, 2-0, Sunday afternoon to even the weekend series.
Alabama (44-5, 16-4 SEC) and Tennessee (39-8, 13-7 SEC) were locked in a scoreless pitcher's duel until Gabby Leach put the Lady Vols on the board with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fifth. Emma Clarke doubled the lead with a solo home run in the sixth, as the Crimson Tide now trailed 2-0 heading to the top of the seventh. Marlie Giles drew a leadoff walk and, two batters later, Audrey Vandagriff broke up the no-hit bid with a single to center to bring the go-ahead run to the plate with one out. A popup and groundout ended the rally and the game as Tennessee was able to hold on for the 2-0 win to even the weekend series.
