
Hagar, Korstanje Named to CSC Academic All-America Team

Both Tommy Hagar and Tim Korstanje picked up their first career academic All-America honors with their second-team selection
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Tommy Hagar and Tim Korstanje were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-America selections, the organization announced Wednesday.
The honor marks the first career nod for Hagar and Korstanje as both swimmers were named to the academic second team.
Hagar and Korstanje concluded the 2026 NCAA Championships as All-Americans, helping lead the Tide to a top 25 finish for the 12th consecutive year. Hagar was also named an All-SEC selection for earning a podium finish at this year's conference championships.
With the addition of Emily Jones who was named a CSC First Team Academic All-American on Tuesday, the Alabama swimming and diving team has had an All-American selection for 12 straight years. In total, 28 members of the UA men's and women's team have earned academic All-America honors 44 times.
Tommy Hagar, CSC Academic All-America Second Team Honoree
- Two-time 2026 All-American, earning first-team honors in the 200 backstroke and second team honors in the 200 medley relay at the NCAA Championships
- Placed fifth on the national stage in the 200 backstroke
- Set the school record in the 200 backstroke, which at the time led the nation, with a 1:37.92 at the SEC Championships
- All-SEC honoree thanks to a bronze-medal finish in the 200 backstroke at SECs
- Ranks fifth all-time in program history after recording a career-best 44.98 in the 100 backstroke at the NCAA Championships
- Alabama Aquatic Center record holder in the 200 back with a time of 1:39.29
- Holds a 3.95 GPA in mechanical engineering
Tim Korstanje, CSC Academic All-America Second Team Honoree
- One of just 42 winter athletes, across all divisions, to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
- Second team All-America honoree at this year's 2026 NCAA Championships as part of the Tide's 200 medley relay team
- Ranks fourth all-time at Alabama in the 100 butterfly (45.92) and sixth all-time in the 50 freestyle (19.26)
- Three-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honoree, earning the award every year he was eligible
- Holds a 3.92 GPA and is graduating with a degree in economics and finance
