
Tyus Hooks Named Alabama Women’s Basketball’s Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Hooks joins head coach Pauline Love’s staff following a four-year stint at Oklahoma
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball head coach Pauline Love announced the addition of Tyus Hooks as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Thursday.
"I'm excited to welcome Tyus Hooks to our staff," said Love. "Tyus is a relationship builder, an elite evaluator and someone who understands what it takes to recruit and develop high-level players. His energy, work ethic and ability to connect with people makes him a perfect fit for the culture we're building here at Alabama."
Hooks joins the Tide after spending four years at Oklahoma where he began as a recruiting assistant and helped with off-court recruiting strategies before being elevated to an assistant coach prior to the 2023-24 season.

While with the Sooners, Hooks aided in leading the team to four consecutive 20-plus win seasons and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances which included two Sweet 16 games. He played a key role in developing All-Southeastern Conference selections Raegan Beers and Payton Verhulst while continuing to make a major impact on the recruiting trail, aiding in the signing of the nation's top-ranked recruiting class in 2025. Hooks also assisted in the development of National Freshman of the Year and All-SEC honoree Aaliyah Chavez during her colligate campaign (2025-26).
Before Oklahoma, Hooks spent two seasons at Eastern Michigan as a graduate assistant after serving as a manager for Ole Miss where he received his undergraduate degree.

- In his first season with the Sooners, assisted OU in a Big 12 regular season title and a second-round NCAA Tournament appearance
- Helped develop Big 12 Co-Player of the Year Skylar Vann and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Verhulst
- His recruiting efforts helped land ESPN HoopGurlz top 70 prospects Zya Vann and Caya Smith to the Sooner's 2024 signing class
- Spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan and four years at Ole Miss as a student manager
- Hooks is a native of Columbia, Miss., and received a degree in political science at Ole Miss (2021)
