The Crimson Tide scores three second-half goals, including Larkin Thomason’s fourth penalty kick
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sixth-ranked Alabama soccer remains undefeated on the season thanks to a 3-0 shutout over Troy Thursday night at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
Alabama (5-0-0) used three second-half goals to post its second straight shutout, out-shooting Troy (1-3-0) 27-5 including a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal. Kennedy Garcia and Soph Martelli notched their first goals of the season, while Larkin Thomason converted on yet another penalty kick to move to 4-for-4 on the year.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"That was not an easy game. I thought Troy came in and did their job. They continued to frustrate us. They sat back and we hadn't seen that in our previous four games, plus the preseason game. Those were pretty wide-open games, back and forth, and this one was one where we just had a lot of territory and the ball and they parked a lot of numbers behind the ball and made it difficult for us. The first half was a little bit frustrating, but in the second half I thought the girls came out and moved the ball more. Their movement was better and we were rewarded with a few goals."
