TUSCALOOSA, AL-The University of Alabama women's soccer team (7-6-1, 0-3-1) fought a hard battle with the Vanderbilt Commodores (5-5-2, 1-3-1), however after 110 minutes of action neither team was able to scratch the scoreboard playing a 0-0 tie.
Alabama goalie Laura Lowman repeatedly came up with big saves finishing the match with 12, a career high. It was the second time in her career Lowman has kept the opposition scoreless for the full 110 minutes. Lowman recorded an overtime-shutout-tie against Auburn last season.
"We played 110 minutes with no decision," said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley. "It's better than a loss, but it's the part of the game I can't stand. We played with some grit and we did some great things defensively, but we looked so out of sync at times offensively. I'm proud of our effort and proud of our team. The reserves that came in gave us the lift that we needed at times."
Along with Lowman, seniors Katie Holtzapfel and Lauren Imwalle and sophomore Allison DeLisle were all credited with 110 minutes of action.
The Tide will be in action again this weekend when the team travels to the Magnolia State with matches against Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
