The Crimson Tide takes home the Iron Bowl of soccer trophy for the seventh straight season
AUBURN, Ala. – For the seventh straight season, Alabama soccer will take home the Iron Bowl of Soccer trophy as the Crimson Tide shut out Auburn, 1-0, on the road Friday night to open SEC play.
Alabama (8-1-0) is 6-0-1 in its last seven Iron Bowl contests against Auburn (4-1-3), including three wins on the road and four shutouts over that stretch. Kennedy Garcia provided the game-winner in Friday's victory, scoring in the 33rd minute for her third goal of the year, her first career game-winner and her first career goal in SEC play. Madi Munguia earned her fifth clean sheet of the year between the posts, matching her season high with five saves.
From Head Coach Wes Hart
"What I've said about our team all along is that we find ways to win. I don't think it was a great start to the game. Auburn probably had a little more control than us in the first half although we got the goal. In the second half we turned the game and had a lot of possession and a lot of chances. It was a well-deserved win on our part. For the seventh year in the row, we're taking the trophy home with us and I'm super proud of the girls. They battled and competed hard tonight."
