Madi Munguia Earns Second SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Accolade

The Crimson Tide goalkeeper earned a season high five saves in a shutout win at Auburn
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second time this season, Alabama junior goalkeeper Madi Munguia has been named the SEC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Munguia recorded a season high five saves in a shutout road win over rival Auburn on Friday, including two saves in the final seven minutes of the game, to help the Crimson Tide bring home the Iron Bowl trophy for the seventh straight season. The shutout was her fifth of the season, which already surpasses her career total prior to this year.
It is the second Defensive Player of the Week accolade for Munguia this season, previously winning on Aug. 31. She is the Tide's first two-time Defensive Player of the Week award winner since goalkeeper McKinley Crone in 2022.
