The University of Alabama softball program has announced the signing of two players for the 2006 season.
Tuscaloosa native Allison Moore and Kellie Eubanks of Prairieville, Louisiana have signed national letters of intent to play for head coach Patrick Murphy and the Crimson Tide beginning in the fall of 2005.
“We are very anxious to see how Allison will develop,” said Murphy. “We love her intangibles: her height, her competitiveness and her love of Alabama. She has tremendous power in both her pitching and hitting. She has pitched, played first and outfield for her high school. We also love the fact that Allison is a Tuscaloosa native.”
Moore is a 6A All-State honorable mention and was also selected a West Alabama Super 10 performer in 2004. She is currently attending high school at Hillcrest High School. Her sister Amanda was a four-year pitcher for the Florida Gators.
“Kellie comes to us with a tremendous athletic background,” said Murphy. “She is a four-sport star at St. Amant High School near Baton Rouge. Her tremendous range in the infield will take away lots of hits. She reminds me a lot of Alex Rodriguez when he played shortstop – great defense, great offensive power.”
Eubanks was named the Morning Advocate’s Louisiana high school female athlete of the year last spring. She currently attends the same high school (St. Amant) as former Alabama baseball shortstop Casey Lambert. She was nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award as well as being named a 2004 NFCA High School All-America and a 2004 NFCA Scholar Athlete All-America.
