
Women?s Basketball Drops Road Contest at UT-Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ?? The Alabama women’s basketball team was unable to overcome a 32-14 halftime deficit on the road against Tennessee-Chattanooga Saturday, falling to the Mocs 62-34.
The Crimson Tide, winners of two of its last three games before the loss, was led by junior Camilla Blands, who had 12 points and five rebounds in 31 minutes. Freshman Tierney Jenkins and sophomore Talisha Chandler each had eight points and seven rebounds.
Alabama fell behind early, scoring only five first-half field goals while allowing Tennessee-Chattanooga 12, including a trio of 3-pointers. The Tide shot 24-percent for game, while the Mocs shot 40 percent. Alabama was 1-of-5 from the 3-point line, while UT-Chattanooga attempted 25 from behind the line, hitting seven.
The Mocs were led by Alex Anderson, who scored 14 points, and Jenaya Wade-Fray, who had 11, including three 3-pointers. The loss drops Alabama's record to 3-7 on the season, while Tennessee-Chattanooga goes to 5-3.
The Tide returns to Coleman Coliseum for a long homestand during which they will host six consecutive opponents in a stretch that will carry the team into 2008 and the SEC schedule. The Tide will host Alabama A&M Monday, Dec. 17 before welcoming Hampton, Thursday, Dec. 20.
