TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball's third signee of the early period is Maddie Morgan, who inked her National Letter of Intent recently to join the Crimson Tide for the 2017-18 school year.
"Maddie is our first signee from the Washington Ladyhawks program," UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. "She is a utility infielder who can play all four positions equally well. She throws right and has some pop hitting from the left-hand side. We aim to find great softball athletes as well as great people and Maddie certainly fits both categories."
Morgan hails from Lynnwood, Wash., where she is a senior at Lynwood High School. She broke the school's single-season batting average record as a freshman, hitting .589, before besting that record with a .657 sophomore season and a .708 junior season. She was an all-conference third baseman her first two seasons, earned all-conference accolades at shortstop as a junior and was a two-time Seattle Times All-Area honoree.
She plays club softball with the Washington Ladyhawks, winning the Valley Invitational Tournament in Oregon in 2015 and finishing as the runner-up a year later. Her team also placed ninth at the 2014 PGF Nationals and 13th in 2016, seventh at the 2015 Boulder IDT and eighth at the 2016 DeMarini Classic.
