Alabama Women’s Basketball Hits the Road for Sunday Matchup at Ole Miss

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team (14-10, 4-7 SEC) returns to action on Sunday when it takes on the Ole Miss Rebels (11-13, 1-10 SEC) in Oxford at the Pavilion at Ole Miss. Game time is set for 2 p.m. CT.
THE BROADCAST
• Sunday's game will air on SEC Network + with Seth Austin and Lindsay Roy on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama begins its two-game road swing on Sunday at Ole Miss.
• Sunday's game will be the first, and only, of the regular season between the Crimson Tide and Rebels.
• Ole Miss leads the overall series with Alabama, 34-24, however the Crimson Tide has prevailed in eight of the last 11 matchups including the last three straight.
• Alabama swept the home-and-home last season against the Rebels, winning 90-80 in Tuscaloosa on Jan. 5 before leaving Oxford with a 65-57 victory on Jan. 22.
• Ole Miss' last win in the series came on Jan. 11, 2015 by a score of 77-63 in Oxford.
SCOUTING ALABAMA
• Alabama enters Sunday's game with a 14-10 overall record and a 4-7 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
• UA is 4-4 in road games this season, which includes a 2-3 mark in against league opponents.
• The Crimson Tide is led in scoring by senior Hannah Cook, who averages 11.0 points per game and in rebounding by fellow senior Ashley Williams, who averages 6.3 boards per contest. Sophomore Jordan Lewis leads the way in assists with 3.6 per game.
• Sophomore Ashley Knight leads the team and ranks fourth in the SEC and 39th nationally in blocks per game with an average of 2.13. She is currently second in career blocks at Alabama (141) and is 41 away from tying Yolanda Watkins (187) for most in program history.
• As a team, the Crimson Tide is averaging 67.5 points per game, 5.9 more than its opponents, and is outrebounding the opposition 39.9-35.4.
• After finishing the 2016-17 season last in the SEC in free throw percentage, Alabama has jumped up to seventh, hitting 71.2 percent of its attempts as a team.
• In 20 of its 24 games this season, Alabama has had eight or more in the scoring column. In nine of those 20 games, 10 or more scored for the Crimson Tide.
• The Crimson Tide started its SEC season with a 3-1 record, which was its best mark since the 1997-98 season. Alabama has also won four of its first seven league games for the first time since that season.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
• Ole Miss stands at 11-13 on the season and 1-10 against Southeastern Conference opponents. The lone SEC win came in double overtime against Florida, 78-75, on Jan. 7.
• The Rebels are 9-4 in home games this season, which includes a 1-4 mark in league play.
• Last time out, Ole Miss dropped an 83-54 decision at Texas A&M. The Rebels were led by junior Alissa Alston, who finished with 17 points, three rebounds, five assists and one steal, and freshman Promise Taylor, who nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, 10 blocks, eight rebounds and two assists.
• Ole Miss is led in scoring by junior Madinah Muhammad, who averages 17.3 points per game, while freshman Promise Taylor leads the way in rebounds at 6.3 per game and blocks at 3.0 per contest. Junior Alissa Alston is the team's leader in assists with 4.3 per outing.
• Ole Miss is under the direction of fifth-year head coach Matt Insell. In his second season, Insell led the Rebels to the postseason, advancing to the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament and finishing with a 19-14 overall mark. He heads into Sunday's game with a 69-81 record.
