
Alabama Men’s Tennis Travels to Take on No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday

The Crimson Tide will compete against the Aggies in College Station, Texas at 1 p.m.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The No. 42 Alabama men's tennis team is back on the road to compete against No. 6 Texas A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Crimson Tide will look to build off of its first Southeastern Conference win of the season after shutting out rival Auburn, 4-0, last Sunday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
In doubles play this season, UA has been led by junior Mazen Osama and sophomore Edson Ortiz who have compiled a 13-2 record while playing all matches in the No. 1 spot. The sophomore tandem of Alexey Nesterov and Thibault Cancel is ranked as the No. 71 doubles team in the nation after compiling a 9-4 record so far in 2018.
Individually, Osama ranks as the No. 95 singles player in the country, while holding an 8-4 record in the dual match season. So far in 2018, Ortiz leads the team with a 14-1 mark, including a 2-0 record in SEC, while Nesterov has a 12-3 record.
As a team, Alabama dropped four spots to No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/ITA Team Rankings that were released on Tuesday.
Alabama is seeking its first win over Texas A&M in program history, as the Tide is 0-12 all-time against the Aggies. A season ago, the No.11-ranked Aggies defeated the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, 4-0.
A&M touts five players ranked in the latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings. Andrew Rinderknech comes in at No. 6, Valentin Vacherot at No. 25, Patrick Kypson at No. 37, Jordi Archonada at No. 49 and AJ Catanzariti at No. 109. The Aggies also have three doubles pairs in the rankings, with Juan Carlos Aguilar and Arconada at No. 19, Arconada and Kevin Lam at No. 45, while Rinderknech and Kypson round out the rankings at No. 48.
